SENIOR CITIZENS FACILITY - PASSING OUT S

Forgotten Seniors

This picture represents me and my friends at Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center- Douglasville, GA 30135 visiting seniors to pass out “stuffed animals” to them. We have been getting together for years on Christmas and Easter.

Many of the seniors did not have any family members or friends to visit them. Just for those 5-10 minutes with each senior it put a smile on their face and made a difference in their life for those short minutes. The staff told us for our presence there it definitely brightened  the seniors day.

In this this world today- seniors are the largest forgotten groups in United States and they never have visitors – not from family, friends. They are left to fend for their selves.

Do Not forget "seniors” do an “act of kindness” in their golden years. And most important, reach out to them and show them that you still care and that we have not forgotten them.

"you will become a senior one day" !

SENIORS AND HUNGER
3RD-SENIOR - FOOD INSECURE - 11-8-20.png

Senior Hunger Poses Challenges

Nearly 5.3 million senior’s citizens currently face hunger in our country.

Nearly 65% of food insecure seniors are younger than age 69.

The National Council on Aging reports 17% of African American seniors and 18% of Hispanic seniors are food insecure, compared to 7% of Caucasian seniors.

After a lifetime of hard work, many older adults find themselves facing an

impossible choice – to pay for groceries, medical care and medicines. And

as the baby-boom generation ages, the number of seniors facing hunger is

only expected to increase!

Our Seniors In Their Golden Years

Adults of the age 50 or older are at an increased risk of having someone

with a chronic health condition, including diabetes (41%) and high blood

pressure (70%)–conditions that can be mitigated by healthy food options-.

Graceful Hearts, Inc mission is to make real change to ensure seniors we will supply fresh fruits and vegetables and other healthy foods to eliminate their challenges of chronic health conditions".

And to put them at ease that they won’t have to worry about food and they can concentrate on paying their utilities and rent/mortgage is a necessity of life” for their well-being.
